Overstrand

Welcome to Overstrand… a charming picturesque seaside village on the north Norfolk coast at the heart of Poppyland. Overstrand beach is a much quieter beach, close to the bustling and vibrant Cromer beach.  If you want a more peaceful experience on one of Norfolk’s many beaches, then this one is definitely for you!

To get down to the beach, you will have to descend via a long slope, but once down, it’s certainly worth it.

  • Look west and you have Cromer Pier in the distance,
  • Look east and you only see the beach and cliff tops stretched out in front of you, towards Trimingham.  Bliss.

The beautiful sandy beaches make this village a popular place for family holidays, and the surrounding peaceful countryside offers a wealth of delightful walks, woodlands treks and bird watching.

The village is steeped in history and boasts many architectural gems, including “The Pleasaunce” former home of Lord and Lady Battersea, Overstrand Hall, former home of Baron and Lady Hillingdon, and the Methodist Church, all designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.

When the tide is out the beach is flat sand, great for building sandcastles, taking a nice gentle stroll or just relaxing in a deckchair. Overstrand is also on the Norfolk Coast Path, one of two national long distance paths in Norfolk; a stunningly beautiful easy graded walk, and the walk from here to Trimingham is probably one of the most picturesque clifftop walks along the trail.
